Ferrari will collaborate with Qualcomm engineers to integrate the Snapdragon Digital Chassis, a cloud-enabled automotive platform that offers extensive digital capabilities, into future road and race cars.
Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna stated, "We think that innovation requires market leaders to collaborate." "We are expanding our understanding in digital technologies and web 3.0 sectors with enormous promise for automotive and motorsport thanks to our collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies."
Qualcomm and Ferrari have already identified their first cooperative ventures, which include a new digital cockpit, and hope to collaborate on more Snapdragon Chassis-based automotive advancements in the future.
Snapdragon Ride, which is used in advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and automated driving capabilities, and Snapdragon Auto Connectivity provides a "complete portfolio" of 4G/5G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, auto-positioning, and other technologies, are also included in Chassis. Snapdragon Car-to-Cloud Services can supply over-the-air upgrades and driver content and track car and feature usage for Ferrari.
At the start of the 2022 FIA Formula One World ChampionshipTM racing season, Qualcomm Technologies will become a Premium Partner of the Scuderia Ferrari Formula One team, with Snapdragon appearing on the new Scuderia Ferrari F1-75 single-seaters. In addition, the official collaboration will include the Maranello marque's eSports operations.
Ferrari is the most recent manufacturer to use Snapdragon Chassis. Renault, BMW, and General Motors were among the first users. During a recent earnings call, Qualcomm President and CEO Cristiano Renno Amon stated that the company has lofty plans for the system. It aims to make the go-to solution for manufacturers as the automotive transitions to a digital cloud-connected platform.
